This is exactly what I was looking for. I tried the FM transmitters that transmit to the car radio and they worked part of the time. I use this interface kit to listen to audio books on my iPod and now there are no interruptions.

I recently got an ipod because the CD player in my truck no longer accepts or ejects CD's. I wanted the ipod to be able to be played through my OEM stereo to basically replace my CD player. This interface was the perfect thing for what I wanted. Sound quality is great, far better than the FM transmitters I have used in the past. Being able to change songs with my radio controls and charging the ipod battery is a definate plus. I give it 5 stars for everything execpt ease of installation, only because the directions could have been a little clearer. The installation took a total of about 45 min., including finding tools in my messy garage and soldering two connections. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who whats to play their ipod through their OEM stereo.

I recently bought this device and had it installed on my 2002 monte carlo ss. The installation is a pain in the butt because the harness kit for my car (GM3 type of interface) has loose power cables and needs a wire splice job! To make it work, I had to meter the factory stereo interface, find the 12V and ground cables, splice and solder them with the according cables in the harness. For the soldering job, I didn't want to cause any short in my car so I disconnected the battery and used another car to power the soldering iron. Once I finished everything, I tested it with an ipod and it worked. Great. However, the next day I went to it, I found my battery completely drained because that device was powered all the time! The ipod wasn't even connected so I just don't get it why it is designed to stay on forever. Anyway, I figured I could elongate the cables, place the device out of the dash and disconnect the power every time I finish using it. That was some extra soldering work and took me another couple of hours to go through.
Some thoughts after this painful experience:
The manufacturer should have come up with a better design to put the device to sleep when not in use, or, at least have a on/off button available.
Buyers who do not enjoy electrical work may want to stay away from this device.
